Relationships
One of the most powerful life-changing things you can do is to enter into a relationship with someone; of course it can be life-changing good or life changing bad.
That‘s why it’s important to know how to make good relationships and avoid bad ones.
Most people are in school to find a career, not a relationship so one of the key concerns of a top student is – “How does this relationship or friendship affect my life.”
If the relationship is “great” but the rest of your life is falling apart because of it, then you can be sure that eventually the relationship will fall apart, too.
Healthy Relationships
A good relationship will keep you on track with your purpose and make life more rewarding and more enjoyable. Who should you get into a relationship/friendship with?
3 signs of people who make good relationships are:
1. A Good Heart :People with a good heart see things and other people in a positive light.
You can really tell a lot about a person by what they say about other people. Someone who is always ready to truly see and say something good about someone is a good person to get to know.
You can also tell a lot about a person by how they deal with challenges. Do they rise to the challenge or sink in despair? Are they ready to take responsibility and make the best out of the situation, or do they take everything personally and play the victim?
2. Respect : They respect your:
Space
Opinion (even if they disagree with it)
Time
Feelings (even if they don’t understand them)
Possessions
Freedom of choice
Way of doing things
They are happy for you when you’re happy
They are sad for you when you’re sad.
They may ask you to help them, but they don’t just use you to get what they need.
They don’t try to turn you into what they want you to be.
3. Open Communication:They communicate well and are open with others.
They can listen
They can share
How do you know who has the potential to be a good friend or partner?
The Test
Observe how they do or don’t respect others; what they say about others; how they face challenges, and how they listen to and communicate with others.
