GPA Stands for Grade Point Average. 

 

Grade Point Average. A numerical measure of academic achievement based upon a computation figured from the number of credits and grade points earned per course.

 

If you have a 4 credit A and a 4 credit B then it is the average of those two grades which in this case would be a B+

Grades are number scaled by most schools like this (below)
